Unique Mesquite Custom
Furniture specializes in fine, custom furniture crafted of rare
specimens of ancient burl mesquite. The company, conceived of by
San Antonian Will Bogert, was born out of a love of family, friends,
and all things Texan.
Will is assisted by his wife, Laura, and partners James and Amy
Blair. The creative side of the business is overseen by chief designer
and craftsman Vern Cook. The company relocated from the DFW area
to Hondo, Texas in August 2005 to consolidate friends, family and
business operations in one location.
Counting one defender of the Alamo and 4 Texas Rangers among their
ancestors, the company has roots as deep in Texas as the beloved
mesquite trees from which they craft their distinctive, one-of-a-kind
objets d'art. More importantly, each member feels they are truly
blessed to work together in a business designed to help other people's
dreams come true.
Unique Mesquite is proud to offer original designs, each painstakingly
crafted one at a time, with unparalleled attention to detail and
quality. There are no imports from Mexico here, no substandard
lumber, and no thin veneer---just exceptional Texan craftsmen,
working with their hands, creating unique heirloom pieces for
you, your children, and your children's children.
A MESSAGE FROM WILL
"We love working with fine wood because we are always amazed
at the beauty and underlying ingenuity of nature, and see both
in an exquisite piece of wood. The furniture pieces that we enjoy
bringing to life are the ones where we work with a customer who
has no clear goal in mind, or is not exactly sure about the design
they want. It is uplifting to work with our customers and watch
and listen to them as their dreams evolve into a unique, well-designed
work that causes their whole face to light up when they see the
finished product!"
"A great deal of thought goes into taking the greatest advantage
of the natural beauty and character of the woods we use such as
burls, knots, and other natural defects. When choosing lumber,
we always try to find boards with a lot of character and then
let the design evolve around specific features of the board. For
example, a desk may start with a piece of wood that would make
a beautiful top, or book-matched pieces might mean a table top
with it's own unique character."
"From this point, the design evolves with no specific rights
or wrongs. We always work within the parameters of the design
our customer specifies, but make every attempt to recommend unique
twists to work into that design. Sometimes we may suggest something
unusual, other times it may be something we've seen done before.
It's whatever feels right for our customers, because without him
or her, our reason for being in this business is clearly irrelevant."
Thanks so much for coming by and visiting with us. We look forward
to working with you to help make your dreams come true.
May God bless you and keep you and yours.
Will, Amy, James, Laura, Vern, and the Unique Mesquite crew.
